Hip hop and Rap music is a black cultural movement out of North America, later to be adopted by different cultures and ethnicities around the world. Originally heard in New York, L.A and Chicago, Hip hop defined the struggles of the people and spoke about hope, wealth, family and feud. The music was derived from "breaks" in rock, soul and disco tracks where a few bars of drums could be duplicated using turntables. In the 1970's, club DJ's began to loop these sections for extended periods of time, soon becoming the favourite part of the track for dancers. Club and street MC's soon after took to 'rapping' over these drum breaks as it made its way onto the streets and block parties.
