ELECTRONIC MUSIC • VINYL RECORDS
The origins of electronic music or electronic rock music began in many countries. Yellow Magic Orchestra from Japan, Kraftwerk from Germany, Pink Floyd in the UK among others began using synthesizers and drum machines to create popular music. Digital technology dictated the sound of electronic music for decades. Notably the Roland TR-808 and TB-303 are known to be responsible for developing Electronic music into the 80's and 90's, used by Disco, Funk and House music artists. House music spawned in pockets of the world like Detroit, London, Ibiza and Chicago. DJ Frankie Knuckles from Chicago is considered the godfather of House music DJing at 'The Warehouse' between the years of 1977 and 1983.
Drum and Bass can be thought of as a hip hop beat on the wrong turntable speed. Originating out of The UK, it came from the rave scene and spawned into other sub genres such as Jungle. Famous artists include Die and DJ Krust and Goldie. Our collection includes a lot of Dubstep, half speed Drum 'n' Bass, as well as Downtempo Electronica, Ambient and Industrial.
